Retford FC can confirm their management for the Under 21’s next season as three new, but familiar faces join the team along with another that will be announced at a later date.
For continuity, Dave Lawson will still be involved in the day to day running of the side and he will be joined by Martin Woodhead and Scott Lee to complete the management team.
Martin has been with the club since day one both as a player and a coach. He took charge of the Development side a few years ago and has been coaching the first team over the last few seasons.
He was with the Under 21’s for the second half of the season and will step up his duties as Manager of the side for the forthcoming season.
He will be joined by Scott Lee who also supported the coaching staff of the Under 21’s last season. Scott runs SL2 who are one of the clubs main sponsors.
There will be a final addition to the team that will be announced after 1st June as the new face will be a first team player making the move from one of last season’s opponents.
Together they will be looking to nurture the talent of the future for the club.
First team Manager Chris Woodhead was happy with the appointments, “It made sense to bring Martin and Scott into the Under 21 set up after doing so well working with them last season. Dave (Lawson) will be taking a step back from his coaching duties due to personal reasons but will still be a major part of the side that he has brought through, many from his Under 18’s sides in the past.”
“With the addition of a fourth member of the team, they are all passionate about not only football but also this club and I know they will bring success both on and off the field.”
“It’s now a time for a short break before bringing the lads back for pre season next month and await the start of the new season.”
