Ryan and Luke represent Retford...for Manchester United!

Two more players have been added to the Manchester United line up - Retfordians Ryan Ford and Luke Staton.

Ford, a product of Bracken Lane Primary School, began his career with Manchester United where he played alongside some of the biggest names including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Neville Brothers and Roy Keane - he made the bench for a League Cup tie against Nottingham Forest in 1999 but failed to break into a star studded first team.

He left to join Notts County then moved onto Ilkeston Town, Gainsborough Trinity and Retford United.

He now plays for our Veterans side on a Sunday and will be looking forward to lining up with his former Manchester United colleagues.

Alongside Ford, Luke Staton will take to the field, another product of the successful Bracken Lane side of 1990 that played at Wembley in the Smiths Crisps Cup Final.

Staton, now a successful motivational speaker and author has been on the books of Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers where he played a League Cup game against Gillingham, before moving into Wales to play for Barry Town where he played four UEFA Champions League Qualifying games and three times in the UEFA Cup. He was also an England U16 International.

Locally he has played for Gainsborough Trinity, Worksop Town and Retford United.

We have more big announcements over the next few days as we await final confirmation of availabilty of players - watch this space!
