New signing arrives at the SL2...

There will be another new face in the Retford FC squad ahead of Saturday’s game against Gedling Miners Welfare with the signing (subject to league approval) of 27 year old Jack McKay who arrives from Doncaster City.

Jack has experience playing at a higher level with spells after a youth career at Doncaster Rovers, earning the title of Doncaster Rovers Academy Player of the Year in 2013, and making four first team appearances for Rovers. He moved onto Leeds United, Cardiff City and Chesterfield FC as well as making 15 appearances for Airdrieonians in Scottish League One.

Since then he won promotion via the National League North Play Off’s with York City in 2021/22 then moved to Buxton FC and Ashton United before joining Doncaster City last summer scoring 14 goals in 33 games.

Chris Woodhead said, “Jack played against us for Doncaster City last Friday evening and I was impressed with what I saw. He did well in several positions and I feel he will be a key cog in the squad this season with his versatility.”

“I’d like to thank Doncaster City for their support in getting this deal over the line so he can be included for the weekend.”

Doncaster City will still hold his registration in the Central Midlands Alliance.
