The Manchester United pre season friendly has had another name thrown into the ring as one of the special guest players will be British Professional Boxer, Liam Smith.
The 35 year old held the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) light middleweight title from 2015-2016 and held the British Commonwealth titles between 2012 and 2015.
With 33 wins in 38 fights, Smith’s latest two fights last year came against Chris Eubank Junior in one bout he won in the fourth round via a total knock out. There is talk of a third rematch this year.
He is no stranger to the beautiful game as he regularly turns out for his local side in Liverpool on Sundays. He even played for Custys FC the day after knocking out Eubank Junior!
The Liverpudlian will don the Retford FC shirt as he looks to spark Liverpool v Manchester rivalries against ex Manchester United players including John O’Shea, Wes Brown, Quinton Fortune and Keith Gillespie for the game on Saturday 22nd June.
More players are due to be announced in the coming weeks along with some other special guests.
