Adam Chapman has moved across town to join Retford FC (pending league approval) after a successful spell at Retford United where he helped guide the Badgers to a play off final place.
The 34 year old arrives at the SL2 Rail Stadium with a good pedigree as a former Northern Ireland under-21 international who started out at Sheffield United but made his senior debut in the Conference on loan with Oxford United in 2009.
He eventually joined Oxford full time and went on on to play 77 times as well as have loan spells with Newport County and Mansfield Town playing over 100 times for both sides.
He then had spells with Gainsborough Trinity and Boston United before joining Sheffield FC.
After several moves between Handsworth, Grantham and Ilkeston he was a popular player at Basford United before joining Retford United making 25 appearances and scoring 8 goals last season.
He will be a key figure in the new look Retford FC side and will also take on a coaching role for the Under 21’s.
Manager Chris Woodhead is delighted with the acquisition saying “I’ve known Adam a long time as we grew up in the same village of Clarborough and have been an admirer of his throughout his football career. I’m glad we finally have him through the door and I know he has been working hard to keep his fitness up over the summer and is raring to go.”
“Another key role will be with the Under 21’s where he will be an asset to an already great coaching set up and he will be looking to be an integral part of the club.”
