Retford FC have begun the search for a new manager to lead their Ladies team into the next chapter, with current manager Stuart Goodall set to step down at the end of the season.
Stuart’s connection with the club runs deep. After several successful years developing players through the junior ranks up to the Under‑18s, he took charge of the Ladies side for the 2022/23 campaign. His impact was immediate. Under his leadership, the team won the Nottinghamshire Girls and Ladies League, earning a well‑deserved promotion to East Midlands Counties League Division One in his very first season.
Although he is stepping away from the dugout, Stuart will remain an important part of Retford FC, continuing his involvement behind the scenes as a valued member of the club committee.
Chairman Chris Woodhead paid tribute to Stuart’s contribution:
“I’d like to thank Stuart for his efforts over the last few years. He has led the Ladies to a promotion to step 6 of the Women’s football pyramid and has created history with the Ladies’ involvement in the FA Women’s Cup. It’s been difficult over the last couple of seasons but he has stuck with it and has a great crop of ladies who the next manager will inherit.”
The club also extends its thanks to Stuart and his Assistant Manager Darren Gray for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the team. Everyone at Retford FC wishes them the very best for the future.
Retford FC will now begin the process of appointing a new manager to continue the progress and momentum built over recent seasons.
